While they are usually less expensive than fiberglass boats, they do not hold up well in salt water due to corrosion and salt build up between the rivets. If you must purchase aluminum for salt water fishing consider buying one of the all welded types as they will last longer.

Aluminum boats have a lighter construction and will give you better fuel efficiency, but their shape does not allow for a large built in gas tank for longer trips.
